Wyoming is officially the least-populated state in the country. While socialites use this statistic to validate their condescending view of Wyoming’s residents and culture, residents of Wyoming pride themselves in the wide-open spaces and transcendent solitude that can be found in this incredible place.
Wyoming was the inspiration behind the creation of the National Park Service of the United States. Specifically Yellowstone was found to be a region of such geological variety, rugged beauty, and wildlife diversity that a protective designation had to be designed to maintain the natural state of the region for future generations. This model has been multiplied the world over and has been crowned as one of the fundamental cornerstones of American society.
Outside the borders of Yellowstone, Wyoming displays two additional mountain ranges that match Yellowstone in grandeur and beauty: the Wind River Range and the Teton Range. The Wind River Range is breathtaking in its remoteness and difficult terrain. The Teton Range is crowned by the famous Grand Teton, and is the birthplace of American Alpinism.
