Sharp Mountain is a small peak, located on the southwest end of the Oquirrh Mountain Range. The base of the mountain contains old mining and agricultural
machinery, reminders of the vibrant past of the population in the town of Ophir.
Today, the winter mountain traffic is little more than a few snowmobiles and the occasional handful of skiers. The day we skied Sharp Mountain, we never saw another soul. Its distant and obscure trailhead deters most exploration, making it a superb location for solitude and untracked skiing.
The north and east faces of Sharp Mountain hold the best skiing. The short approach is accessed from the town of Ophir, on the southeast base of the mountain.
