Lowe Peak is a prominent mountain, located on the southern end of the Oquirrh Mountain Range. Highly visible from the freeway system along the Wasatch Front, the east aspect of Lowe Peak reflects the vibrant colors of the sunrise during the months of winter snowpack. Notwithstanding its winter brilliance, Lowe Peak remains largely untraveled by backcountry skiers. Its distant and obscure trailhead deters most exploration, making it a superb location for solitude and untracked skiing.
The east face of Lowe Peak is difficult to access because of the complex maze of private land ownership at its base. The west face approach is the best alternative and can be reached from the town of Ophir, on the southwest base of the mountain.
