Mount Tuscarora is one of five peaks in the Brighton Ridge of the Central Wasatch Mountains. The mountain’s close proximity to Alta and Brighton makes this peak popular backcountry ski terrain. The north and east faces are particularly beautiful with rugged chutes for ski descents. The north, east and south flanks of Mount Tuscarora end with three alpine lakes: Lake Mary, Lake Martha and Lake Catherine. All three serve as popular hiking and camping areas.

The shortest route to the summit of Mount Tuscarora is the South Ridge from the Albion Basin. The next choice is the West Ridge from Mount Wolverine. For a longer day with awesome scenery, use Mount Tuscarora as the third peak of a five-summit ring that circles the Brighton area. Follow Mount Millicent to Mount Wolverine, Mount Tuscarora, Sunset Peak, and Pioneer Peak (superhikers can push two additional miles to Clayton Peak). The valleys below these peaks have well-maintained trails that lead back to Alta and Brighton so you can ditch out at any point and return home.
