Point Supreme is merely a hill compared to its tall, rugged neighbors. Yet one characteristic makes its summit particularly appealing—the protected north face. The north face of Point Supreme is a grassy hillside in the summer, but come winter, it is one of the first skiable lines in the Wasatch.

The north face is the perfect aspect to protect early-season snow from the melting rays of the sun. Snow piles up inch by inch, and usually by early November it is deep enough for great powder runs. This window of opportunity is small because the north face of Point Supreme is within the boundaries of the Alta Ski Area. When the ski area opens, the powder is skied within minutes of falling. The southeast face is outside the terrain of the Alta Ski Area and is open for backcountry skiing.

Point Supreme is most easily accessed from the north. Hike the docile north face, or traverse the northeast ridge. Both routes are simple and easy but necessitate avalanche skills for safe travel.
