Mount Millicent is most impressive on the northeast face that rises over the Brighton Ski Area. The mountain also borders Lake Mary on its southeast side. The lake is a popular area in the Wasatch for its astounding wildflowers, easy hiking, and short distance from Brighton.
Mount Millicent is a smaller peak, and its summit isn't as inspiring as its taller neighbors, yet what makes this mountain worthwhile is its short distance to the summit. The mountain is perfect for a summit sunrise or a quick morning hike. The shortest route is the North Ridge. Roundtrip hiking time is between two to four hours. There are no trails to the summit, simply boulder hop up the ridge.
For a longer day with awesome scenery, use Mount Millicent as the first of a five-summit ring that circles the Brighton area. Follow Mount Millicent to Mount Wolverine, Mount Tuscarora, Sunset Peak, and Pioneer Peak (superhikers can push two additional miles to Clayton Peak). The valleys below these peaks have well-maintained trails that lead back to Brighton so you can ditch out at any point and return home.
