Flatiron is a prominent rock formation on the west flank of the Superstition Mountains. Driving east on the I-60, through the city of Mesa, Arizona, the Superstition Mountains stand tall in the distance on the border of the valley. The entire Superstition Ridgeline is visible, tying together two of the more dramatic peaks in the area: Superstition Peak on the east end and Flatiron on the west end.

Flatiron is named for its striking formation. It isn't actually a summit, but a prominent point 164 feet below the actual, unnamed summit. The most popular route to the top is through Siphon Draw. A maintained trail begins at Lost Dutchman State Park and travels roughly 1.5 miles to a sandstone waterfall near the base of the draw. From here, there is a faint, hikers trail traveling straight up the draw. It's recommended to hike Siphon Draw in February or March while the temperature is still manageable. But travel early, by 10 a.m. on the weekend, this place is a zoo.
