Glossary & Ratings

The following list is organized in two sections: glossary and ratings. The glossary is composed of mountaineering terms that are unique to the sport. The ratings are defined to gauge the difficulty and commitment level of each route on a mountain. It is important to note that ratings provided in our mountain album are solely a reflection of our experience and skill level. These ratings are not intended as advice in any way. Ratings are subjective by nature, and should be combined with additional research and information about any given route. Route conditions also change the difficulty and commitment level of any given route. Conditions in the mountains change rapidly. What is safe one day can be dangerous the next day. Take extraordinary caution as you explore.
